JMJ *Our homeschool classroom has “rung” the bell 89 times so far this school year, and is closing in on the first semester, so today I will be taking a break from the usual, and looking back, as you might consider doing if you are a homeschooling parent.
Ring the School Bell 89/180 days
And the winner of the “Polished Apple Award” …. is YOU!
Our homeschool classroom has “rung” the bell 89 times so far this school year, and is closing in on the first semester, so today I will be taking a break from the usual, and looking back, as you might consider doing if you are a homeschooling parent.
Now is a good time to reflect on the accomplishments of the first semester. So relax a bit and do a little reminiscing and brainstorming on your own or with your kids, because…
It is time to give ourselves a pat on the back for all of our hard work.
Below you will find a “Polished Apple Award” certificate for you, as well as a “Way to Go Award” for your child, all prepared for you to fill in with 10 accomplishments for this past semester. Remember, these do not all need to be academic. Include social, physical fitness, or personal goals also. That is why I suggest printing pages for each individual in your family. How about including your spouse also?
My own pat on the back?
My biggest personal accomplishment by far, this last semester, has been to keep my committment to write every day in this school journal. It has been a challenge, but here I am, on day 89, and still writing!
Around the house… as a reward for all of the girls’ efforts in the yard makeover, we spent some time at the craft store and chose lovely fairy garden items including 3 tiny fairies for the 3 girls, a tiny cottage, a tiny fake doorway to set against a dirt mound, a tiny picnic table, bridge and other assorted decorations. What fun! We are going to find a sweet spot in the newly made-over yard for our new little friends.

** Note to the Reader- Today’s narrative is part of our family’s school journey from a few years ago, during my eldest daughter’s senior year in high school, a rather emotional year, with its many ups and downs. Every day’s blog entry coincides with a day from that special year. It can be read from the beginning by selecting the “Ring the School Bell 180” category on the side bar. Commence with the narrative, “The School Bell- What comes to mind when ‘you’ hear that bell?”
