JMJ *If you have a large van or car, fill up all the seats to make it even a more festive atmosphere. Invite friends that you think might not otherwise be able to go see the holiday lights. For example, someone who has a disability and can not drive. Make their day and invite them.
Every day for 16 days, I have been sharing different ways to savor the season. I hope that you have taken advantage of some of them. Only 3 more to go!
Ways to Savor the Season 13/16- Don’t miss the light show!
Pile your family and friends in the car, with some thermoses full of cocoa, and tour a lit-up neighborhood, while listening to holiday music. If you have a large van or car, fill up all the seats to make it even a more festive atmosphere. Invite friends that you think might not otherwise be able to go see the holiday lights. For example, someone who has a disability and can not drive. Make their day and invite them.
Try to go a week or so before Christmas itself, as traffic congestion in the most festive neighborhoods can be a little treacherous. Or walk for an extra-special experience. Just watch out for distracted drivers. Bring a flashlight.
Look in the newspaper or online for areas to explore if you are new to your area. Also, look for decked-out hotels or shopping areas.
On the Homefront… Ring the School Bell 74/180 Days
Not too much schoolwork is happening at our address today. Sabrina is playing catch-up in her non-community college classes, Sarah worked a bit on her fiction writing course, and Melissa excitedly began a new chapter book we picked up at the library. A celebration is in order for Sabrina who received an A- in her English 101 class at College of the Canyons, and so we headed over to the Red Robin restaurant.

** Note to the Reader- Today’s narrative is part of our family’s school journey from a few years ago, during my eldest daughter’s senior year in high school, a rather emotional year, with its many ups and downs. Every day’s blog entry coincides with a day from that special year. It can be read from the beginning by selecting the “Ring the School Bell 180” category on the side bar. Commence with the narrative, “The School Bell- What comes to mind when ‘you’ hear that bell?”
