JMJ *Treat yourself to a relaxing coloring session with your kids or pals, along with a mug of peppermint tea and Christmas instrumentals playing in the background. If you decide to color with your kids, they will be amazed at your skill and wonder how you got so good at coloring! You deserve a little fun too.
Every day for 16 days, you will find little things which are inexpensive to do, involve little to no preparation, for family and close friends to enjoy together this holiday season, on this blog site, www.onceuponaschoolhouse.com. Although a few ideas might be added to your Christmas bucket list, these are mostly traditional ideas that have a timeless quality to them.
Ways to Savor the Season 6/16- Rediscover the kid inside that loved to color.
One thing that I love about coloring is it is one of those activities that you can do and think, or socialize at the same time.
When is the last time you got to color? Today, I am going to rediscover the kid inside me and revisit the joy of coloring. Hopefully, I can persuade someone to color with me, as my kids are now in their teens and beyond!
Crayola has a fabulous website, with 48 free and super-cute printable Christmas downloads, mostly coloring pages, but also some illustrated bingo cards. I printed several, including a snowman (below), cabin in the snow, sugar cookies, and a Christmas cat. I picked these coloring pages for two reasons: they are beautiful and they look like they can be done in one sitting!
On the homefront: Ring the Bell 67/180 Days
It was definitely a hot chocolate-y kind of day, hopefully the beginning of a winter trend. In other words, the wintry weather was matching the season in this typically warm part of the country. The fall stuff was put away today to make way for the Christmas cheer, and in the process of tidying up, I filled up 5 more bags for Goodwill! And hurray, Sabrina is finishing up her community college classes this week, a welcome break after a grueling but exciting semester. Time to gloriously slow down for the holidays.

** Note to the Reader- Today’s narrative is part of our family’s school journey from a few years ago, during my eldest daughter’s senior year in high school, a rather emotional year, with its many ups and downs. Every day’s blog entry coincides with a day from that special year. It can be read from the beginning by selecting the “Ring the School Bell 180” category on the side bar. Commence with the narrative, “The School Bell- What comes to mind when ‘you’ hear that bell?”
